Injection

Lawton, IA- July 14, 2006- Noted restoration specialist The Healey Werks announced today a highly advanced and tunable multiport fuel injection for all Austin Healey, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati and a wide range of other classic vehicles.

"Major revolutions in fuel systems may come along only once in a decade," said Craig Hillinger, president of The Healey Werks. "But a new era has dawned and through extensive dynamometer testing, our multiport fuel injection kit has proven its potential to provide smoother, cleaner, and more powerful motoring in classic cars. Our new fuel injection systems with electronic management enable us to reach levels of performance that quite simply aren't possible with older carburetor technology."

Over the course of many years it has been identified that stock carburetor and distributor systems cannot give access to full potential engine efficiency and power at numerous throttle and RPM ranges. After numerous years of research, development, programming and testing, The Healey Werks is ready to offer this highly refined and unprecedented product in both kit and installed packages.

“Extensive testing on our AWD Superflow Dynamometer has allowed us to extract the most horsepower, torque, fuel economy, and drivability possible from a multiport fuel injected Austin Healey 3000,” said Hillinger.

“We use multiple reference points for razor sharp ignition and injector timing, and dwell. Multiple optional features include traction control, multiple cooling fan outputs, A/C mode, live telemetry, and a host of others.”

• The system can provide a different timing point for cranking to relieve stress on the starter.

• If the vehicle cooling system begins to fail and coolant temperature begins to rise, the ECU will go into a limp home mode by adjusting fuel and ignition.

• The system facilitates a safe way to add rev limiter. It does not cut fuel at rev limit. (This would rapidly lean out the combustion chamber and create massive amounts of dangerous heat levels) By intermittently cutting ignition, RPM can be maintained at a safe level.

• Healey Werks can tailor systems to nearly any application, utilizing either custom distributors or systems that are distributorless.

“Through significant and exhaustive dyno testing, we have built multiple fuel maps that maintain a perfect air fuel ratio from zero to full load and idle to maximum RPMs,” said Hillinger.

“By operating the car at exact load and speed ranges for extended amounts of time we have created a reliable, safe, intelligent, and powerful conversion.”

Dyno

With the addition of a four-wheel chassis dyno, our quality and performance has gone a step higher. Now being able to simulate highway and racing speeds in house, we can better tune and find potential issues that would otherwise go un-noticed. Performance can be increased by getting the most power and efficiency out of your carbureted or fuel injected vehicle with precisely created fuel and ignition maps. Another added benefit is the ability for The Healey Werks to precisely tune and adjust our restorations, without ever leaving the building. All of these tests are performed while strictly monitoring air/fuel ratios, engine ambient temperature, coolant temperature, oil temperature, exhaust temperature, oil pressure, atmospheric pressure and temperature, and a host of other critical readings.

Great care has been taken in choosing a chassis dyno that is aligned with the quality of The Healey Werks. The capability and standards of the Superflow AutoDyn are a perfect match.

The Superflow AutoDyn has the ability to:

-Perform acceleration, step and steady-state tests at all throttle settings.

-View real-time torque output, at steady and changing speeds, to instantly evaluate changes you've made to the engine's fuel or timing maps.

-Diagnose engine and drive-train problems.

-Identify drive-train frictional losses.

-Troubleshoot drivability issues.

-Control the entire test from a handheld controller, inside the test vehicle.

-Run track lap simulations.

-Evaluate exhaust systems, lubricants, performance coatings, pinion angle alignment, axle bearings, rear ends, and u-joints.

-Quantify tire, clutch, or torque converter slip. Study the effects these components have on power and torque without expensive and time-consuming track testing.

-Perform short-term durability tests on engine and driveline components.

-Simulate hills of varying grades, constant or variable speeds, and around town stoplight-to-stoplight driving. Ensure that the vehicle is drivable at various throttle settings, in a variety of circumstances.

-Locate and troubleshoot engine and driveline problems.

With the addition of the SuperFlow SF-902 engine dyno, we are able to take engine building and restoratiuon to level rarely seen in our industy. With the SF-902 we are able to measure the power/efficency characteristics of your engine. Not only how much power your engine is producing, but where the power is, in the speed range. Additionally, we can ensure the engine runs correctly before it is installeed in the car, and perform audits that quantify that the engine will do what it was intended to do. Equally important, we are able to provide the reliability and performance that The Healey Werks clients have come to appreciate.

Great care has been taken in choosing both engine and chassis dyno technologies that align with the quality of The Healey Werks. The capability and standards of the SuperFlow AutoDyn and SF-902 are a perfect match.
